How does Hydro Facial work?
PRP vs PRF – Understanding the Differences and Benefits of Blood-Based Treatments
In recent years, aesthetic medicine has shifted towards more natural treatments that use the body’s own resources to restore skin health and vitality. Two of the most innovative procedures offered in advanced beauty clinics are PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) and PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin). At our beauty salon in Wellingborough, we specialise in these therapies to help clients achieve glowing, youthful, and healthy skin in a natural way.
What is PRP?
PRP, also known as the “vampire facial,” involves drawing a small amount of the client’s blood, which is then spun in a centrifuge to separate platelets and plasma. This golden plasma is rich in growth factors that stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture, and encourage regeneration.
Benefits of PRP:
-
Reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
-
Improves skin elasticity and tone.
-
Helps with acne scars and pigmentation.
-
Promotes natural healing without chemicals or fillers.
What is PRF?
PRF is a second-generation version of PRP. The process is similar, but the blood is spun more slowly, which preserves more white blood cells and fibrin. This means PRF contains a higher concentration of healing properties and is released more gradually in the skin, offering longer-lasting results.
Benefits of PRF:
-
Stronger stimulation of collagen and elastin.
-
More natural and gradual release of growth factors.
-
Longer-lasting effects compared to PRP.
-
Can be used not only for facial rejuvenation but also for hair restoration.
Which Treatment Should You Choose?
Both PRP and PRF are excellent choices for clients who want natural, safe, and effective skin rejuvenation. PRP offers visible results and is often chosen for anti-ageing and scar treatment, while PRF provides a more advanced, long-lasting effect, ideal for those seeking maximum collagen stimulation.
During your consultation at our Wellingborough beauty salon, we will recommend the best option based on your skin goals, whether it’s reducing fine lines, improving texture, or enhancing overall radiance.
Natural Beauty with Your Own Cells
The biggest advantage of PRP and PRF treatments is that they use your own blood, making the procedure biocompatible and safe. There are no artificial substances – just your body’s natural ability to heal and rejuvenate.
Important Information Before Hydro Facial Treatment
To ensure your PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) or PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) treatment is safe and effective, please read and follow the guidelines below.
Before Your Appointment
✅ Preparation for the treatment:
- Hydration is key – drink plenty of water (at least 1.5–2 litres in the 24 hours before your treatment). Well-hydrated blood produces better quality plasma/fibrin.
- Avoid alcohol and caffeine for at least 24 hours before the procedure, as they can dehydrate you and affect blood quality.
- Stop taking blood-thinning medication or supplements (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E) for about 3–5 days prior, unless prescribed by your doctor. Always consult your GP before stopping any medication.
- No smoking for at least 24 hours before your session, as it reduces healing potential.
- Arrive with clean skin – no makeup, creams, or oils on the treatment area.
⚠️ Contraindications:
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women.
- People with blood disorders, active infections, or chronic liver disease.
- Anyone currently undergoing chemotherapy or taking strong immunosuppressive drugs.
🌟 Aftercare recommendations:
- Mild redness, swelling, or sensitivity is normal for 1–3 days.
- Avoid makeup, heavy creams, saunas, and vigorous exercise for 24 hours.
- Use gentle skincare and keep the area clean.
- Protect your skin from the sun – apply SPF daily.
- Stay well hydrated to support healing and collagen stimulation.
🌟 Why Preparation Matters
PRP and PRF treatments use your own blood to stimulate healing, collagen production, and skin rejuvenation. The better prepared and hydrated you are, the more effective and comfortable your results will be.
